Project Unify is a program based around creating an accepting and inclusive environment for EC students through sports teams and academic programs. Here at Bailey we have a program teaching EC students and mentors a modified driver's certification course. One of the main ideas of Project Unify is to change the way the community views EC students through leadership opportunities for both special needs and non-special needs students. Project Unify is a program originally created by the Special Olympics, and one of our goals this year is to get our Project Unify program Special Olympic certified. Another one of our goals this year is to continue our Spread the Word to End the Word campaign. Spread the Word to End the Word is a campaign based around ending the use of harmful words directed at special needs students, more specifically the word retard. Students sign the pledge sheet and pledge to not use harmful words such as retard, retarded, etc. while hopefully telling others who use the words how offensive they are.
